Pokemon Go events schedule for July 2023: All current and upcoming events

There’s a huge event schedule lined up for Pokemon Go in July 2023, so we’ve put together a full list of dates from Community Days to Spotlight Hours and special events like the game’s seventh anniversary celebrations.

Despite being seven years since it launched on mobile devices, Pokemon Go still has a huge community of players around the world who log in every day to catch ’em all and battle with friends. A big reason for that is the events that Niantic hosts in the game.

As well as the monthly Community Days and weekly Spotlight Hours that focus on a specific Pokemon, there are always themed events happening that celebrate everything from Halloween to new mainline Pokemon games like Scarlet & Violet being released.

Below, you’ll find information on every major event happening in July 2023 in Pokemon Go, as well as details on the Spotlight Hours, Community Days, and Research Breakthroughs you can enjoy.

Go Battle Weekend: Clay (July 1 – 2)

Another Go Battle Weekend will take place at the start of July, this time inspired by Gym Leader Clay from the Pokemon Black & White games.

By taking part in PvP Battles with other Trainers, you can complete Timed Research tasks and earn rewards like Clay-themed avatar items and Stardust.

7th Anniversary Party (July 6 – 12)

To celebrate seven years since it landed on mobile phone devices around the world, Pokemon Go is hosting an anniversary event featuring the debut of Wartortle and Blastoise wearing a Party Hat.

There will also be unique wild spawns and bonuses on each day of the event, as well as the ability to once again purchase a Masterwork Research ticket that leads to an encounter with Shiny Mew.

July Community Day Classic: Squirtle (July 9)

Squirtle will be returning to the spotlight for a very special Community Day Classic event in July. As well as an increase in wild spawns, you’ll also have an increased chance of encountering Shiny Squirtle.

Trainers will be able to get the featured attack Hydro Cannon when they evolve a Wartortle into Blastoise, and there will be a Special Research story for anyone who purchases a ticket from the in-game shop.

Catching Some Z’s event (July 15 – 16)

Pokemon Go Catching Some Zs event

To celebrate the release of the new Pokemon Go Plus+ device, an event called Catching Some Z’s is taking place. It will feature the debut of Komala as well as themed wild encounters and Raid Bosses.

A Special Research quest leading to an encounter with Snorlax wearing a nightcap will also be available for trainers who link a Pokemon Go Plus+ device with their Pokemon Go account.

Riolu Hatch Day (July 22)

Not much has been revealed about Riolu Hatch Day, but the name makes us think that Riolu will have an increased chance of hatching from Eggs during the event, so make sure you save up those Incubators!

Adventure Week event (July 27 – August 2)

We don’t know much about Adventure Week yet, but last year’s Adventure Week event featured the debut of Amuara and Tyrunt, event-themed Timed Research tasks, and special Ultra Unlock bonuses.

We’ll update this page when we know more about the Adventure Week event.

July Community Day (July 30)

The star of the July Community Day hasn’t been revealed yet, but you can expect the usual boosted wild spawns, increased Shiny rates, an exclusive attack, and a Special Research quest available in the shop.

Pokemon Go July 2023 Spotlight Hours

Spotlight Hours are some of the most popular Pokemon Go events.

There are four Spotlight Hours to look forward to in Pokemon Go this month, which we’ve listed below alongside their bonuses:

  • July 4 – Rufflet with Double Catch Stardust bonus
  • July 11 – Wailmer with Double Catch XP bonus
  • July 18 – Rhyhorn with Double Catch Candy bonus
  • July 25 – Yungoos with Double Transfer Candy bonus

Spotlight Hours take place every Tuesday from 6pm to 7pm local time. Prepare for them by stocking up on Poke Balls and clearing out your Pokemon storage.

Pokemon Go July 2023 Raid Hours

Taking part in Raid Hours is a great way to catch Legendaries.

There are four Raid Hours to look forward to in Pokemon Go this month, which we’ve listed below:

  • July 5 – Heatran
  • July 12 – Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres
  • July 19 – Regieleki
  • July 26 – Regidrago

Raid Hours take place every Wednesday from 6pm to 7pm local time. During this hour, the featured Pokemon will appear more frequently in 5-Star Raid Battles.

Pokemon Go July 2023 Research Breakthrough

Research Breakthroughs feature a new reward each month.

There are six potential Research Breakthrough rewards for July 2023: Sableye, Beldum, Audino, Furfrou, Goomy, and Noibat. You’ll be given one of these Pokemon encounters at random.

To earn a Research Breakthrough, you’ll need to complete seven Field Research tasks during July. If you complete one every day, you could earn up to four encounters during the month.
