Best Barbarian build in Diablo 4 for leveling
The Rend Barbarian build is gaining some traction as one of the best Barbarian builds in Diablo 4. Remember this is the best build for leveling through the game’s story, not PvP or endgame activities.
The Rend skill is one you can learn at level 4 and does constant Bleed damage to enemies. We’d also advise upgrading it as soon as you can with the following enhancements, once they become available:
- Level 5: Enhanced Rend
- Level 6: Furious Rend
- Level 7: Battle Lunging Strike
This will ensure your primary skill is as powerful as possible, laying the foundation for the rest of the build.
At level 8 you’ll want to learn Rallying Cry to give your Fury a boost when needed, then upgrade that skill all the way to Tactical Rallying Cry. We’d also recommend learning War Cry at level 13, but save this for powerful or elite enemies.
Now it’s time to learn your first passive skill; Hamstring. This will slow enemies down once they are effecting by Bleed, making them more vulnerable to your attacks. As you’re using an upgraded Rend as your primary attack, you’ll be making a lot of demons bleed.
Next, learn Death Blow to deliver a final devastating hit to enemies you’ve already weakened. This will kill many outright, allowing you to slice through mobs quickly. Enemies slowed down by Hamstring will be especially at risk of this attack. Upgrade Death Blow all the way to Fighter’s Death Blow.
Once you reach level 25, learn Call of the Ancients for a damage boost and to temporarily summon 3 powerful allies based on an iconic Diablo 2 boss – then upgrade the skill to Supreme Call of the Ancients for maximum damage.
We’d then recommend learning the Booming Voice and Pit Fighter passives to make your shouts and close-quarter attacks more potent, followed by Unbridled Rage at level 35 as your Key Passive. Then activate Raid Leader, Guttural Yell, Tempered Fury, and Invigorating Fury for more passive buffs.
We’d also recommend learning these four passives to make your Barbarian extra tough once you’ve mastered all your core skills:
- Cut to the Bone
- Aggressive Resistance
- Prolific Fury
- Pressure Point
As your core skills have already been allocated, you can spend any other level-up points on any other skills you find useful, but we’d recommend investing in the above first to take advantage of the best Barbarian build in Diablo 4.
